Yumi Zouma – ‘In the Eyes of Our Love’
“I see an ocean in your eyes,” Yumi Zouma sing on ‘In the Eyes of Our Love’, and it’s hard to not think of the sea breeze that seems to emanate from their songs. This time, though, the band takes a slight detour, turning their gaze inward to explore the dynamics of a relationship. The song builds on a bed of lush synths and dreamy guitars, creating a hazy atmosphere that perfectly complements Christie Simpson’s ethereal vocals. The chorus is a moment of pure catharsis, as Simpson declares, “In the eyes of our love, I see the truth,” before the song gently fades away. It’s a beautiful, introspective track that showcases Yumi Zouma’s ability to craft intimate, emotionally resonant pop songs.
