Astropical’s self-titled debut album, a collaboration between Bomba Estéreo and Rawayana, aims to spread joy and connection in a world filled with negativity and digital alienation. Montenegro se preocupa de que la próxima generación pueda ser arrastrada a debates políticos peligrosos que podrían llevarlos a ellos o a sus familias a la cárcel. “Ha sido muy difícil para nosotros llegar hasta aquí”, dice. “Y estos artistas no cambiarán la política venezolana. Hablar de ello solo les traerá problemas”. Dirigiéndose a los medios, dice: “Déjenlos en paz”.
“Rawayana hizo esta canción fantástica [Veneka] y todo lo que la prensa quiere preguntar es sobre el presidente”, agrega Saumet. “Sé cómo es: te sientes utilizado, se siente mal como artista”.
Cansados de la música de protesta, Astropical están tomando un enfoque diferente. “Ahora se trata de dar amor y recibir amor”, dice Saumet. “El mundo es en realidad un lugar hermoso. Depende de cómo decidas verlo. Así que decidimos ver el mundo de esta manera, y compartirlo. El mensaje es: no estás solo. Podemos estar juntos en el mundo, bailar, besarnos, ¡reír juntos!”
El álbum Astropical ya está disponible. La gira por Norteamérica del grupo comienza el 24 de mayo en el festival Fuego Fuego de Montreal.
